Dankmeyer Dance Company had its first New York Season in 2002 at St. Marks Church-in-the-Bowery. Dankmeyer was named a “modern-dance choreographer of welcome intelligence and promise,” and “an assured choreographer who is not afraid to dream big,” by the New York Times. DDC has recently appeared at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out, the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts in Jacksonville, FL and the ’62 Center for Theater and Dance at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Dankmeyer has also created four works for the Williams College Dance Company, including a site-specific piece for a gallery in the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art for the American College Dance Festival annual conference. Dankmeyer has collaborated with many musicians and groups including the Ritz Chamber Players, Morley, Motomi Igarashi, Tahirah Whittington, and the poetry and music group Merge. |
